Embossed Friends Cards

I created these cards for two of my sweet friends. One is a thank you card for a friend who was kind enough to spend some time helping me with my business and the other is a congratulations card for a good friend/team member who just promoted.

To create the cards, I embossed the floral stamp from the Layers of Beauty set with gold embossing power on a piece of watercolor cardstock. Then I used my water brush with various ink colors to add a soft ombre background. I attached that piece to a card base. Then I die cut the word friend from the Friends for Life bundle out of another piece of watercolor cardstock and stamped/embossed a sentiment to the panel. The “You are Amazing" sentiment is from Sentimental Park.

I swiped the edges of the panel with some Versamark ink and then heat set some gold embossing power to give the edges a thin gold border. I adhered the panel to the card base with some Dimensionals. The butterfly in the upper left corner is from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set. To finish off the card I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Here is a full list of all of the supplies used on the thank you card.

New Craft Room Workstation

I am in the process of updating my craft room. I purchased a new workstation couple of days ago that has an opening on one side for me to sit and shelves on the other side. It was actually a health issue that prompted me to purchase this new workstation. I am constantly having issues with my back and last week when I had my latest adjustment, my neuro-release guy said that I had 3 ribs out again in addition to being totally "out of wack." When he asked what I do all day, I told him I was papercrafting and cutting a lot of cardstock. Apparently my previous workstation was too low and I was twisting and doing some other things that my back didn't like. (Who knew that crafting could be hazardous to your health! LOL)

I found this amazing piece of furniture at IKEA and decided to give it a try because it is much higher than my previous workstation. It is actually a kitchen island, but I thought it would be perfect for my studio. The only problem is that the bar stool that I ordered is too tall. I needed to get the smaller one. I'll have to see if I can exchange it.

I have had lots of requests to do a craft room tour video. Stay tuned because that is on my list!

If you are interested, here is a link to the island and here is a link to the correct sized bar stool. (I ordered the 29" one, but I think I should have ordered the 25" one.)

Greatest Adventure Father’s Day Card - Sneak Peek at a New Masculine Stamp Set

Here’s a sneak peek at a great masculine stamp set that will be released next month. The train is from a new set called Greatest Adventure. I don’t know about you, but I struggle with creating masculine cards. I created this card to give to my husband on Father’s Day. (He loves trains so I was really excited to pre-order this set.) It’s a very simple card, but he really liked it.

I used the Greatest Adventure stamp set which will be released as an online exclusive product in July. I also used the Deckled Rectangles dies, Stylish Shapes dies (for the sentiment), a piece of Country Woods DSP, and a sentiment from the June Paper Pumpkin subscription kit. I hand cut some clouds from a piece of scrap cardstock to use as a mask and then added some Pool Party ink with a Blending Brush to create the clouds in the sky. I used the following ink colors: Early Espresso, Night of Navy, and Pool Party.

How about you? Do you struggle with masculine cards too?

Thinking of You Card using Online Exclusive Around the Bend Dies

This dimensional card was created using one of the online exclusive dies called Around the Bend. It is a fantastic set because it contains multiple dies to create all kinds of  fun edges on your cards in addition to sweet flowers and leaves. The sentiment is from a stamp set called Friends for Life and the Designer Series Paper in the lower left corner is from the Full of Life collection. I LOVE this collection because it is so fun and colorful. You can also order the suite which includes both of these products at a discount here.

If you know me, you know that I love adding dimension to my projects and tend to use lots of 3-D Foam Tape and Stampin’ Dimensionals. You will notice that the entire white panel of the card is popped up with Dimensionals along with some of the flowers.

Here is a photo of all of the dies that are in the Around the Bend set.
