New Colors and Best Birthday Ever Card

Close to my Heart’s new colors are here AND they are available in the newly designed ink pad style! You are going to love these new ink pads! They are bigger, easier to open, and of course the new colors are beautiful!

In this video, I show a comparison of the new ink pads with the old ones.

I created a simple card with the new colors using the card on page 36 of the new catalog as inspiration. I love the new Wise Guy Birthday stamp set. Did you know that this set is also available in Spanish and French?

I used all of the new colors including Raspberry, Blossom, Tangerine, Lemon, WillowEmerald, and Pansy. The only new color I didn’t use is our “color of the year” Sea Glass. The only reason I didn't use it is because I didn’t have the pad yet when I made the card. LOL. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait to make some cards with it!

So what do you think? Do you like the new ink pad design?
I definitely give it a “Two Thumbs Up!”

Watercolor and Thin Cuts Cards

One of my favorite new products in the new Close to my Heart catalog are the new Thin Cuts word dies! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!! I created two cards using the new set which includes both the word “hello” and the word “thanks,” appropriately called Hello & Thanks.

To create the cards, I added some water to a piece of 4" x 5¼" watercolor paper with my large watercolor brush. Then I dripped some watercolor paints in various colors onto the water and let the color spread. Once the paint dried. I actually ironed the cardstock with a regular iron to flatten it out. (I put a piece of printer paper on top to protect it while I ironed the paper.)

I cut the words “thanks” and “hello” from some black cardstock using the new Thin Cuts metal dies and my Cuttlebug. I adhered the die cut words to the center of the watercolored paper and stamped a small sentiment under each one with my Black Memento ink pad. The “for your kindness” sentiment came from the Finding the Words stamp set. The “sending smiles” sentiment came from one of the stamp sets that comes with the new Flower Market Cricut Collection

I matted them both to a piece of 4¼" x 5½" black cardstock and then again to a white card base. They were lots of fun and easy to make. If you plan to make some, I would suggest creating a bunch of watercolor cardstock pieces all at the same time and then setting them aside so that they will be ready when you want to make more cards later. Once you start watercoloring, you won’t want to stop. LOL!

This month’s project kit is a boxed stationery set using the new Flower Market Cricut Collection and the new Uptown Fundamentals Paper Collection! The final project includes 6-3/4" x 6-3/4" box with inside dividers, (6) cards and envelopes, (6) gift tags, and (1) Pen. (I am in LOVE with the new Cricut Collection and knew that I had to create this month’s project kit with it. I hope you enjoy this kit as much as I did creating it!)

This month’s local class will be held on Thursday, August 18th at 7pm. (If you’d like to order a kit to be mailed to you instead, see the shipping option below.)

Contents of the box you will create.

Everything fits perfectly inside of the box because of the dividers. Even the pen, which has gold polka dot foil vellum on the inside, has it’s own little cubby.

Once the box is filled and closed, it makes a perfect gift!

Isn’t this flower sweet?
It is just one of the many 3-D flowers on the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.

You will create (6) cards, (2) each of (3) designs.

It is hard to see in the photo, but the jar is made of striped vellum.

I am loving the gold foil on this paper and the layered sunflowers!

You will create (6) tags, (2) each of (3) designs.

Kits are now sold out.

Thank you for the great response.
