Making 3-D Cakes with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

My cake video is finally ready. Sorry for the delay. I was trying to figure out the best way to use our video camera to make the video, but unfortunately, the quality isn’t as good as I had hoped. In any case, here it is. I hope it is helpful.

Below are the dimensions I used to cut the pieces for both the small cake and the large cake:

Small Cake:

Bottom: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 3-3/4" (Hexagons cut at 4")

Middle: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 2-1/2" (Hexagons cut at 2-3/4")

Top: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 1-1/4" (Hexagons cut at 1-3/8")

Large Cake:

Bottom: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 9-1/2" (Hexagons cut at 10")

Middle: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 6-1/2" (Hexagons cut at 7")

Top: Cut 3 pillow boxes at 3-3/4" (Hexagons cut at 4")

"Sweet" Roxie Projects

Sorry I have been a little MIA. I have been having a blast, although working hard, at the 3 Ring Circus Consignment event over the past few days. Today is the last day and most of what's left is going to be 50% off! Woo-Hoo!

Anyway, since I haven’t been too busy creating much the past week, I thought I’d share a few “Sweet” projects with you using the new Roxie Paper Packet. These were some projects I made for the 3-D class I taught at Convention highlighting the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. I will post more detailed pics later, but in the meantime, here’s a little eye candy for you to enjoy. (Pun intended. LOL!)

The banner was made using one of the banner images and borders on the cartridge, the scallop circle shape with the coordinating stamp, and the alphabet on the cartridge. The “chocolates” were made just like the ones I posted here. The heart doilie was made using one of the many intricate images on the cartridge. The fry box was also made with one of the box images. The celebrate sentiment and shape are both included on one of the stamps in the AP bundle! The mini cake was made just like my larger cake here. I am still working on the how-to video. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget. I am just trying to figure out if I can use our video camera to shoot it instead of the camera on my computer. (I’ve got a little learning curve with this one!)

Remembering the 2011 CTMH Awards Night

I was just sent this great photo from Close to my Heart. It is a picture of me with my sweet friend Christine David along with CTMH’s Brian Holman, Vice President of Technology, Monica Wihongi, Vice President of Training & Events, and Kristine Widtfeldt, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. It was taken after the Awards Banquet at our annual Convention. (Boy, I was tired but super excited!) Christine and I were honored to win an award for being in the top ten for Team Building for the year. She came in 4th in the entire company and I came in 6th.

I am not sure if I have mentioned it lately, but I LOVE CLOSE TO MY HEART! It is a wonderful company filled with the brightest, most talented, kindest people you will ever meet! I am so blessed to be a part of such a fabulous company family!

Butterfly Card using Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

I just had to share this AMAZING card that is posted on the Close to my Heart Facebook page today. It was made using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and the Pair-a-Phrase stamp set. Isn’t it beautiful? I can’t wait to make one myself.

Gratitude Boxes - September Creative Club Projects

This month's Creative Club will be held on Thursday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 27th at 7pm. This month I have TWO different projects that you will have the option of making. You can choose to make one or BOTH! Just let me know when you RSVP which one you would like or if you would like to make both.

Each kit will be $22 or $17 with a $25 order. (If you are not local, please add $5 for shipping.) But if you would like both kits, the cost will only be $32 (plus $5 for shipping if you are a long distance member.)

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I thought it would be nice to make something to help us remember how blessed we are and how thankful we should be. Both of these projects have helped me to appreciate all that I have been blessed with and I hope they do the same for you and your family.

The first project is a “Gratitude Box.” It uses our new My Creations Memory Game Box and the includes (24) 3" x 3" chipboard squares to showcase all of the things for which you are thankful.

This kit includes:
(1) My Creations Memory Game Box
(24) chipboard squares, a full Dreamin' Paper Packet
(1) piece of Chocolate Striped Ribbon
(Long distance kits also include step-by-step instructions and pre-stamped images.)

Baby Shower Card Box

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Close to my Heart’s new My Creations Card Boxes. I used one to make this box for a friend of mine who is having a “baby sprinkle” tonight. (She is pregnant with her 4th girl so she really didn’t want to have another baby “shower.” We couldn’t let her have another baby without some sort of celebration, so I am calling it a “sprinkle” instead.) Each of her friends will be able to write some words of wisdom on a card that she can keep in the box. She suggested this because she knows that there will be days when she will be at her wits end and need some encouraging words at a moments notice. She will keep her box of encouragement close by so whenever she needs it, she will have those uplifting words from her friends, even at 3am when she may need it most.

I used my favorite papers from the Sophia Collection, along with a rose cut from one of the ribbons in the Pink Designer Ribbon Collection.

The scallop card borders were cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge from Hollyhock cardstock. The large flowers on the cards were stamped in Baby Pink with a Hollyhock center using the A Posy set. The little corners are from the Limited Edition, September Stamp of the Month, set.

I will have another Fall themed project using one of these great boxes to share soon.

Art Philosophy Cardstock Cake

I made this cake out of cardstock using Close to my Heart’s Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge for the 3-D class that I taught at Convention. Believe it or not, I used the pillow box image on the cartridge to make the cake, one of the border images to line the edges, and of course had to use one of my favorite 3-D flowers to decorate it. The only other thing I added to it were some Pearl Adhesive Gems.


I plan to make a video showing how I made the cake, so stay tuned...
