H2H Color Challenge

This week’s Heart 2 Heart Challenge is a color challenge. (And let me just say, it was a challenge for me, although it did bring me out of my comfort zone a bit which is always good.) The colors are Gypsy, Cremé Brulee, and Black. I have to admit, my Gypsy ink pad was still in the wrapper. LOL! But after playing with it, I realized that I really like the color!

I pulled out my well loved favorite, Treasure Life set for the flowers. The background on the small Colonial White cardstock was stamped with the beautiful set from the Bliss Workshop on the Go in Cremé Brulee. Then I sponged some Cremé Brulee ink around the edges and stamped the flowers in Gypsy. The main background was stamped using the new Backgrounds & Borders set. Everything is matted on black cardstock. In fact, probably for the first time ever, I used black CS as my card base. I added some Cremé Brulee ribbon to finish off the front.

I added a piece of Colonial White CS inside and stamped some more flowers from
Treasure Life. The birthday sentiment on the front and inside are from the new Card Chatter - Birthday set! (I love this set!)

Pop on over to the
Heart 2 Heart blog and see what the other design team members came up with, then add a link to your own creation using this color combo. You just may win a great prize at the end of the month...

All supplies used at from Close to my Heart unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Treasure Life, Card Chatter - Birthday

Paper: Gypsy, Cremé Brulee, Black cardstock
Inks: Gypsy, Cremé Brulee, Black
Other: Cremé Brulee Ribbon, Sponge Dauber

Another Sympathy Card

Sadly I had to make another sympathy card. This one is for my mother-in-law because my father-in-law passed away last weekend. It was very sad because my MIL was not even home at the time. She was in Minnesota with my nieces when it happened. But now everyone is back in Wisconsin celebrating his life. The funeral was yesterday and, though I was sad to have missed it, I am rejoicing that he is now with the Lord.

Anyway, I got some fun new SU! goodies from a friend of mine that I finally got to use. (Thanks Allyson!) My card is very simple, but shouldn’t sympathy cards be simple? I used my new SU! embossing folder and butterfly dies, added a few Mini Sparkles from CTMH and stamped a sentiment from PTI to finish it off. I hope it brings a little comfort to my sweet MIL.

Supplies used:
Stamps: With Sympathy (PTI)

Paper: White cardstock (PTI), Crystal Blue cardstock (CTMH)
Inks: Cocoa (CTMH)
Other:
Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (SU!), Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies

Brrr...Something "Cold" - Heart 2 Heart Challenge

The challenge this week on the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog is to create a card that incorporates anything that makes you think of the word “COLD.” I chose to use ice cream cone stamp from the stamp set that comes with the Fanfare Workshop on the Go. I know my card isn’t very fancy, but it does make me think of cold ice cream. In fact, I think I am getting a brain freeze right now! LOL!

The sentiment is from the new Card Chatter - Birthday set. I masked a few of the words with a Post-It Note and then inked the stamp with Cocoa ink, removed the Post It, and stamped it on some white cardstock. Then I masked the other words, inked it up with some Cotton Candy ink and stamped right on top of my previously stamped image. (Oh how I love my clear stamps!)

The background is stamped with the Noted Backgrounds stamp set. I stamped it on our new Kraft cardstock with White Daisy ink. I love how the pigment ink looks on the Kraft cardstock.

Finally I stamped the ice cream cone on some Kraft cardstock, cut it out, flipped it over and then stamped the crisscross pattern from the Noted Background set in Chocolate ink. I also inked the edges with some Chocolate ink using a Sponge Dauber. The ice cream is stamped with Cotton Candy ink. I trimmed it out as well and adhered them both with Foam Tape.

Head on over to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog and check out what the other design team members created. There is some great eye candy over there!

Now it’s your turn. Be sure to post your “cold” creation on the H2H Challenge Blog and you may win a prize donated by our wonderful February sponsors, Shirley Ross from Mom 'n Me Scrap and Sandra Strickler from Stampin' and Scrappin’.

Have a great week!
Creatively Yours,

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Sophia Heart Tin

This week’s Heart 2 Heart Challenge is to make a project using hearts. How appropriate for Valentine’s Day. Don’t you think? I decided to decorate some fun heart tins with the Sophia Paper Packet. (My swapping buddies all received one of these goody boxes, so I had the honor of making 6 of them.)

I started with a large heart shaped tin from Papertrey Ink. Then I added a 2" strip of stripped paper around the bottom of the tin. I found that using my Xyron machine was the best way to get the paper to stick. Then I traced the bottom of the box onto the pink floral paper twice and trimmed them out. (I lined the inside of the box with one of them.) I took the other one and placed it on top of the lid and felt for the groove in the metal next to the window. Using an embossing stylus, I followed the groove to indent the paper. Then I trimmed out the center with my Micro-tip scissors. I ran it through my Xyron machine to add some adhesive to the back and carefully applied it to the lid. I was able to run my fingernail around inside the groove to get a closer fit. Finally I added some Hollyhock ribbon around the edges of the lid. I got the idea from Debbie here. She is a genius! *Ü*

The flower came from Close to my Heart’s awesome new Designer Ribbon Pink Collection. I simply cut off one of the roses and adhered it onto the lid with a glue dot. The leaves were made by folding some Pear cardstock in half and running it through my crimper. I cut a half leaf shape out and then opened it up to get the full leaf shape. I sponged some Pear and Chocolate ink on the leaves to add a little more dimension. The tag was made using the sweet Love Ya! stamp set. (Can you tell I like that set from all of my previous posts? LOL!)

In case you are wondering what is inside the box...I filled it with Hershey’s Nuggets. I trimmed some papers from the Sophia Collection to 1" x 3" and wrapped them around the nuggets. (You all know how I love my Hershey’s nuggets. LOL!)

Hop on over to the H2H Challenge Blog and check out the other Design Team members creations. Be sure to visit their websites and leave a little love for them too. After all, it is Valentine’s Day and everyone needs a little love on Valentine’s Day. Right? LOL! (I listed their links below as well.)
Now it’s your turn. Link your heart themed creation to the H2H Blog. You just may win a prize at the end of the month or even be invited to become a guest designer for Heart 2 Heart!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine Cup Holder

This is a fun project that we made at our last Team Meeting. (Thanks Cindy for the great idea!) These can hold two cups that you fill with hot chocolate packets and marshmallows, candy, Starbucks gift cards, etc. The insulated cups we used were found at Winco, but you can use any types of cups.

The tag was made using the cute Tag the Occasion stamp set.

The “You Warm my Heart” sentiment is from A Sip and the border is from Party Pennants. The flower was made by punching a piece of Sweetheart B&T with a scallop circle punch. It was crumpled up and inked with Cotton Candy ink, glued to the box, and then a large Sparkle was added in the middle.

These were the measurements and directions that were given at the meeting, just in case you'd like to make one for yourself.

Cut two 9.5" x 9.5" pieces of White Daisy cardstock. Score at 3" on all sides of each piece. Fold. Then cut on the folds, up to the first score line, on one side then the opposite side of the paper. (See photo below.)

Then fold into a perfectly square box! You'll have two boxes. Glue each box together with tacky tape or Bonding Memories Glue. Then glue the two boxes together on one side.

Cute two 3.5" x 8" pieces of white cardstock. Round the two top corners with corner rounder. Punch a whole at the top of each piece with a 2" punch. Glue together at the top with tacky tape, then place these two pieces inside one edge of each of the two boxes...this is the handle and will hold the boxes together.

Cut two pieces of Black CS: 6.5" x 2.5". Then cut two more pieces of Black CS: 2.5" x 2.75".

Cut two pieces of Sweetheart B&T paper: 6.25" x 2.25" and then cut two more pieces of B&T paper 2.25" x 2.5".

Adhere the B&T pieces onto to the Black CS pieces...decorate...then adhere these whole pieces onto each side of the boxes (that are now glued together.)

Doesn’t this look like a fun project to make? Would you like to make fun projects like this at our next Team Meeting? Join my Team this month and you will have the opportunity to earn your New Consultant Kit for FREE! Click here for more details!

Valentine Nugget Tin Teacher Gifts

I resorted back to the old Hershey’s Nugget Tins for my kid’s teachers Valentine gifts again this year. (Hey, they are new teachers and haven’t seen them before. Right? They don’t know that I have made these for the past 2 years for the other teachers. LOL!) Click here and here and here and here to see more of my nugget tins. *Ü*

I used my well loved PTI Holiday Treats stamp set along with PTI’s Borders & Corners -
Hearts set to make the tags. The tags were punched out using Marvy’s extra jumbo and super jumbo scallop heart punches. I also used CTMH’s new Sweetheart Paper Pack and some Cranberry Grosgrain Ribbon for the wrap. (The ribbon is on sale on my website right now and is only available while supplies last!) I found some cute small white bags at Walmart and stamped the outside of the bags with CTMH’s new Love Ya! stamp set.

The front of the bags are stamped with the cute “XO” stamp from the Love Ya! set, in Tulip ink and then the small heart is stamped in the middle of the “O” with Baby Pink ink. I added the tags to the bag with some Cranberry Grosgrain Ribbon.

The back of the bags are stamped with the “You fill my day with Xs and Os” stamp in Tulip ink and then a few little Baby Pink hearts are stamped around it.

This is what the tin looks like without the belly band. For those of you that haven’t seen these Hershey’s Nugget projects before, I stamped some standard sized address labels and wrapped them around the chocolate nuggets. The label fits perfectly around the candy. (Check back on Monday for another fun Hershey’s Nugget project.)

Stay tuned for more Valentine projects...

Thinking of You Card

I made this card for a friend who recently lost her father-in-law. Sympathy cards are always hard for me to make. I want them to be simple, but comforting. I still have tons of cards that were sent to me when my father died 19 years ago and they still bring me comfort when I pull them out and read them. Hopefully this card will bring a little bit of comfort to their family.

ETA: I have had a lot of questions about how I embossed the card. To get the space in the middle, I ran the cardstock through my cuttlebug twice. The first time, I had the folder about 3/4 of the way down the paper. Then I flipped the embossing folder around and slipped the bottom of the paper inside just a tiny bit. That left the blank strip in the middle. Then I used my scoring tool to add a line on the top and bottom of the flat section. Hope that helps. *Ü*

Stamps: Say it in Style (retired), Felicity (retired)
Cardstock: Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink)
Inks: Cocoa

H2H Challenge - Kissing

No silly! Not
that kind of kissing. LOL! The Heart 2 Heart Challenge this week is to use the stamp kissing technique on a project. If you are unfamiliar with the kissing technique, be sure to check out Tresa Black’s video that is showcased on the H2H blog. She does a great job showing how to do this technique.

I used Valerie’s great instructions to create this little notecard box. The box, which I plan to keep on my desk, contains a bunch of flat notecards. I used the kissing technique on the flowers. I inked the A Posy stamp set with Heavenly Blue ink, the swirls from the
Adorable Backgrounds set in Crystal Blue and then kissed them together before stamping the image onto some Colonial White cardstock. It adds a fun pattern to the solid flower image. The box was made using a piece of Bamboo cardstock. I covered parts of it with patterned paper from the Miracle Paper Packet. The word “notes” was stamped with the new Bohemian Alphabet set onto some Colonial White cardstock, cut out and adhered with some 3-D Foam Tape. (I just can’t seem to create a project without that Foam Tape! LOL!)

Here’s the box without the cards inside. I lined the bottom with more patterned paper. I also added a strip of the awesome new Kraft Color Ready Borders to the top. I was so excited when I found out that they are self adhesive!

Here’s the kissed flower close up.

The cards were made with a Colonial White CS base, layered with the backside of one of the Miracle patterned papers, then a layer of Crystal Blue CS, and finally another layer of Colonial White CS. The cards are nice and thick with all of the layers. I stamped them each with one of the sayings from the Miracle Workshop on the Go set. Then I added (with of course more 3-D Foam Tape) the cut out flowers and leaves from the A Posy set. Each flower has a blue button in the middle threaded with some Waxy Flax.

I’d love to see what you create using the stamp kissing technique. Head on over to the H2H Challenge blog and check out what the other design team members have created. Then link your creation for a chance to win some great prizes from our wonderful sponsors, Shirley Ross and Sandra Strickler.

And then when you are done...go kiss someone you love! *Ü*
